Franklin Stove in Main Living Room

Here's a photo of John and Mary McGrail in the large living room in the front of the house. It was taken in 1953 or 1954, at Christmas time. Although the picture is flawed, you get a good view of the beautiful mantel and Franklin stove. Many family heirlooms were stored here, especially in the shelves and cabinet at the lower right.

When the farmhouse was known as the Lyman School, this large living room was used as a classroom. The slate chalkboard was still in the cellar. I don't have a picture of the chalkboard, however.
