Berkshire Summer House in Otis, Mass.

My maternal grandfather, Michael Corridan, father of my mother, Fe McGrail, owned a summer house in the Berkshires, in the town of Otis, on the Otis Reservoir. Along with a number of my cousins, the Smiths, the Corridans and the Hemonds, often we would go up there and spend a very happy week or two in a small house on the lake. When Mike Corridan died in 1972, the seven heirs to the property owned the house. In the early 1990's the seven heirs reached an agreement to sell the house. The new owner removed the house, and built a much larger home on the property. Some of the same issues that doomed the farm in Berlin also factored into the loss of the house in Otis. Indeterminate ownership, need for money quickly, lack of ability to repair or restore the property all contributed to its loss. Therefore, both sides of my family have lost a piece of property in a similar manner.
I have only a few pictures of the house in Otis. Here's the best one I have, taken shortly before the house was sold, in the early spring of 1993.
